LET’S TAKE CARE OF OUR NATURE, SAY CITY’S GREEN VOLUNTEERS

For people of Bengaluru, Covid Pandemic has been a learning lesson but they have whole heartedly jumped into volunteering work by helping the poor unable to face long lockdowns. Many volunteers have not only distributed food kits during the second but also given saplings to people to bring in awareness about keeping our surroundings green.

As part of volunteering efforts, Kiran Kumar Reddy of TKR foundation has distributed 800 food kits in villages of Anekal, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Whitefield. Further he was involved in plantation work. and provided 3000 saplings.

Another volunteer Murali of Humanity Social Welfare Trust adds, “Everyday, the Oxygen we breathe is free but during the pandemic, patients had to pay money for O2.  About 60-70 percent of 3000 saplings given have been planted. We bought 5000 saplings from the government nurseries.”

Saplings of  Neem and Honge were given to 800 of these rickshaw drivers. Since most of them do not have space, they were advised to plant around the city’s wetlands. 

Further, people have been asked to send photos of saplings planted. Further, volunteers have been educating people and bringing in awareness about the importance of green cover and how important Oxygen is for mankind’s survival.
